Many children, especially those living in the slums of Karachi do not have the luxuries that we have in the developed areas. These luxuries include new toys, games, clothes and shoes which are not in their reach due to poverty. In such conditions even the small gift could mean everything to a child on the morning of Eid.
In the Holy Qur`an:
`Give to the near of kin his due, and also to the needy and the wayfarers. Do not squander your wealth wastefully; for those who squander wastefully are Satan’s brothers, and Satan is ever ungrateful to his Lord. (17:26 – 27)`
2016 Karachi Pakistan; a decent ceremony of Eid Package distribution was took place in a community hall. Mr. Kamil Kolabas, advisor to Turkish minister of culture and tourism, and TIKA’s Karachi Coordinator Ibrahim Katirci visited Karachi slums on Eid-al-Adha and distributed food packs and gifts to 400 families & children.
The act of kindness was widely praised by the community representatives and TIKA participation in it was heart-warming. It was a very emotional sight to watch the humble women along with kids receive their gifts. All those present were well aware that these were just tokens – a gesture of help since drastic changes are needed to improve the living standards of these families. Nevertheless, every recipient of the gifts praised Allah Ta`ala saying Alhumdulilah again and again, some even crying just thankful that somebody cared.
The NGO World (TNW) made all the arrangements for ceremonies and identified the needy families of Karachi slums.
