The ‘NGO World’, founded by Zafar Iqbal, organized a series of functions on 27th February 2020 at the National Centre for Rural Development (NCRD) to celebrate the ‘World NGO Day’. There were three major components of the celebrations;

Goodwill Ambassador of the World NGO Day in Pakistan Mr. Zafar Iqbal has been organizing events of celebration since 2014. Through these events he has provided an effective platform to a big number of NGOs and NGO workers to strengthen networking and knowledge sharing.

Chief Guest of the ceremony, Mr. Ibrahim Carlos (Country Head Turkish Red Crescent in Pakistan) presented awards along with Goodwill Ambassador Mr. Zafar Iqbal. On this occasion chief guest and audience appreciated the efforts of social workers/winner NGOs and acknowledged their valuable services for the humanity.

“The central idea behind the Conference was “Social Good”, which brings together people from all walks of life to share their ideas, success stories and energy to create the homeland we all want to observe. The 2020 conference discussed various aspects of social well-being of people with focus on Role of NGOs in today’s scenario in Pakistan as all are keen to bring social change and improvement in Pakistani society,”

Federal Minister and Adviser to the Prime Minister for Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam graced the Social Good conference. Speaking to the NGO’s representatives comping from all over Pakistan he said: “Current government is following the philosophy of NGO’s involvement in all programs initiated for the wellbeing of common man in Pakistan. According to the vision of Prime Minister, government is taking steps to make a clean and green Pakistan.

The ‘NGO World’ provided opportunity to Non-Governmental Organizations to showcase their exceptional work. Exhibitors displayed their brochures, models, pictures, banners, posters, flyers, equipment, books and other related material etc. Federal Minister and Adviser to the Prime Minister for Climate Change, Malik Amin Aslam who was the chief guest cut ribbon to open the NGO Showcase. He along with Goodwill Ambassador Mr. Zafar Iqbal visited stalls and appreciated the good work done by the social sector organizations.

The ‘SWERA Awards’ (Social Work Encouragement Recognition & Appreciation) were given to social workers and organizations to celebrate their valuable work for humanity. SWERA award aims to celebrate and promote inspirational stories of social work executed by individual social workers or organizations/departments.
